2014
In the early 2010, Mr. Lawrence Gan started the flexible plastic packaging business by renting a small warehouse and the purchase of just a few production machines to run his customers’ orders. He is inspired by his father who also run the business of flexible plastic packaging, he also received kind support from his family. Visualizing the future where his company becomes the METRO PLASTIC MANUFACTURER of the flexible plastic packaging, he named his company Metro Plastic Manufacturer SDN. BHD. Metro Plastic Manufacturer at that time only focused on producing FLEXIBLE PACAKAGING before they started to move on in producing more product line.
2016
The business had grown bigger, and the small warehouse is insufficient for storage. Mr. Lawrence proceed to buy a bigger warehouse and set-up a new office at a brand-new site. Metro Plastic Manufacturer SDN. BHD. slowly has its name being recognized as a competitive flexible plastic bags product by the market. In addition, the business received various orders from all around the world ranging from Asia in Singapore Indonesia and Thailand to Australia and New Zealand. The product line has increased to include biohazard bags, ice bags and aprons.
2020
The breakout of Covid-19 pandemic affected the business around the whole world and caused most of the business sectors to close their business due to unstable economy and movement control order. Metro Plastic Manufacturer take this opportunity to produce and supply Biohazard Bags to hospitals and clinics, which is in all-time high in demand. To maintain the business, Metro Plastic Manufacturer also set-up an online platform where customers may purchase with a minimum order through Shopee Apps. In addition, they also produce and supply disposable apron throughout the pandemic period as an act of corporate social responsibility.
2022
As the economy slowly recovers, Metro Plastic Manufacturer open with new strategies to further expand its business and came out with its own garbage bag product line which is branded “GRYFALCON”. In 2022, Mr. Lawrence had decided to expand his business in retails where he set-up a physical shop named QA Supplies SDN. BHD. which sells a lot of plastic items related to packaging. Today, we keep growing and received more and more orders from new and old customers alike. With almost 20 unit of machineries & over 100 employees, we have delivered almost 500MT per month. We will continue and maintain our quality assurance to our customers as a the respond of their kind support.
Metro Plastic Manufacturer further expands its business through the addition of labor and machineries. They ventured into an entirely new market that involved the manufacturing of recycled plastic pellets. The manufacturing process involved policies and standard operating procedures in covering proper waste management.
The plastic sheets waste from company’s internal production process and the plastic sheets from external sources will undergo the recycling process of sorting, cleaning, shredding and extrusion. In exchange, the waste will be recycled into pelletized plastic materials that can be sold or used again in the business’s manufacturing processes.
2023
In 2023, Metro Plastic reach its peak through obtaining various certification. Starting with ISO 9001: 2015 which is Quality Management System.
In addition, the team strive to go further with its achievement with the Singapore Green Labelling Scheme (SGLS) in 2024. The team is empowered to follow international environmental best practices in their production process because many plastic bag suppliers these days place a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability. They also have access to chances for regional expansion through a global network of ecolabels.
Since the firm must possess three ISO certifications—ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management systems and ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety management systems—the SGLS certification process is more stringent than ISO 9001:2015.
Despite the hardship, the team continues to work toward their objective and successfully obtained the three ISO and SGLS certification in the end.
2024
With the seemingly increasing orders from various customers, Metro Plastic Manufacturer has once again required to expand its size to include more machinery and stock keeping. The progress of site expansion has already in motion. The industrial area of Kamunting, where all the different manufacturers and enterprises are situated, will serve as its new base of operations in the future.
